IPL technology
IPL technology can achieve long-term hair removal results at a fraction of the energy level used in other light-based hair removal equipment. The low energy used in glide reduces its potential to cause harm or complications and contributes to your overall safety. IPL technology is the technology of pulsed light hair removal based on the theory of selective photo thermolysis. In this method, optical energy is used to block the growth of the hair. For this thermal effect, the hair shaft needs to selectively absorb light energy and transform it into heat. This selectivity is due to the fact that the high optical power applied to the tissue is primarily absorbed by the pigment of the hair shaft while the skin and surrounding tissue are cooled actively (by a cooling mechanism). The pigment in the hair shaft is responsible for absorption of light which is called melanin and generates heat which ultimately inhibits the growth of the hair.
Who can use it?
In general, light-based hair removal is not suitable for naturally darker skin tones. The BDI IPL features a built-in skin color sensor that measures the complexion and will only work on suitable skin tones. This safety feature will not allow you to treat skin that is too dark or too tanned. Consult the skin color chart to see if BDI IPL is suitable for you
Whilst black and dark brown hair works best with the BDI IPL, lighter brown hairs also respond however they may need a few more treatments. Red, white, grey and blonde hair may show a response and will require more treatments.
